Open Division: (2) Carlsbad (25-5) vs. (1) Montgomery (28-2), 8 p.m.

Preview: Carlsbad is the defending Open Division champion, beating Montgomery 56-47 in last season’s title game at UC San Diego. The Lancers are led by UC San Diego-bound Jake Hall, who ranks No. 2 all-time in scoring in San Diego with 3,045 points. He’s backed by three-sport star Jett Kenady, point guard Jordan Garner, Briggs Young and Trenton Mehl. Carlsbad has beaten Santa Fe Christian 71-64 and Cathedral Catholic 73-61 in the playoffs. Carlsbad is ranked No. 18 in the state. … Montgomery is led by JJ Sanchez, who ranks No. 13 all-time in San Diego with 2,297 points. JJ’s twin brother Alek has 1,057 career points, Xair Mendez has 1,747 and Devin Hamilton has 1,366. Xavier Guerreo is the fifth starter. Montgomery has beaten Francis Parker (86-37) and Mission Bay (64-53) in the playoffs. Montgomery is ranked No. 7 in the state.

Open Division: (3) Mission Hills (22-8) vs. (1) Francis Parker (20-8), 5 p.m. 

Preview: Mission Hills is the defending Open Division champion, beating La Jolla Country Day 63-56 last season at UC San Diego. That was the fourth Open Division title for the Grizzlies since 2015 and eighth title-game appearance. Mission Hills uses a 10-player rotation led by Bay Cordova (15.4 points per game), HC Harding (14.4), Kalea Bacho (9.8), Kendall Nguyen (7.1) and Izzy Medina (6.6). The Grizzlies beat Cathedral Catholic (73-34) and La Jolla Country Day (63-42) to get to the championship game. Mission Hills is ranked No. 26 in the state. The Grizzlies have won seven in a row, with their only loss to a San Diego team coming 54-53 to Westview on Jan. 28. … Francis Parker is making its first appearance in the Open Division finals. The Lancers are led by freshman Isabella Riddle (13.6 points per game), Brieana Brown (14.7), Kaitlyn Raagas (9.3),  Brianna Mendez (7.9) and Gigi Ong (4.6). Parker beat Rancho Bernardo (38-24) and Westview (51-39) to get to the title game. Francis Parker is ranked No. 15 in the state. Parker has won nine in a row. Its only loss to a San Diego team came Dec. 13, when it lost 65-61 to Mission Hills.
