Oceanside’s Emerging Sports and Entertainment Venue Is Opening With an Enviable Food Roster
A boon to Southern California-based sports fans and concertgoers alike, Frontwave Arena is a new 7,500-capacity arena set to launch in Oceanside later this month. Its programming schedule kicks off on Monday, September 16 with a pair of dates for the Gold Over America Tour, starring gymnastics legend Simone Biles and other world-class athletes, followed by a grand opening concert performance by CAKE on October 5 and a preseason showcase between the LA Clippers and the Brooklyn Nets on October 8. The arena will also be the new headquarters for the San Diego Sockers and the G-League team of the LA Clippers, rebranded this summer as the San Diego Clippers.
Though no outside food and drink will be allowed, Frontwave Arena co-founder Josh Elias signed Liquid Sportsgroup to curate and operate all on-site food and beverage, from concourse concessions to offerings at its 16 luxury suites, VIP viewing decks, lounges, bars, and other public spaces like an open-air patio and a grand plaza that will also play host to performances and events.
Liquid Sportsgroup CEO Scott Marshall is the former chief hospitality officer for the San Diego Padres, so expect to see some favorites from Petco Park’s locally-minded lineup. Frontwave Arena will feature Cardiff’s Seaside Market serving up its beloved tri-tip nachos along with a “Cardiff Crack” sandwich and a California burrito while another Petco vendor, North Park’s Gelati & Peccati, will offer Roman-style pizza al taglio by the slice, an Italian burrata sandwich, and small-batch gelato.
SoCal’s Brandt Beef is supplying all the hot dogs for the venue and fueling two premium food outlets. Tanner’s Prime Burgers, the fast-casual burger outfit from fine-dining chef Brandon Rogers and Brandt Beef’s Eric Brandt that started as a pop-up at the Del Mar racetrack and opened its first storefront in South Oceanside earlier this year, will have a second location inside Frontwave, The Imperial Valley ranch will also be unveiling Baja Tacos, an arena taqueria that’ll cook up tacos using Brandt Beef New York strip steak as well as quesadillas and churros.
The venue will also include several bars, including the Cutwater Cocktail Bar from the Miramar-based distillery, plus the Coors Light Chill Zone and the Modelo Cantina.
